I went on an adventure and saw this theatre. So I decided to stop and look at it. All the windows are boarded up because all the glass was broken, I looked into a hole that I found and I saw the inside of the place completely vandalized. It was a sad sight to see. Who in their right might would ruin a beautiful theatre like that?
The Elmwood Theater (Palace Cinema) was just hit by a tornado that damaged it so bad that they may have to tear it down and rebuild. It’s in downtown Elmwood, a smalltown of less than 1000 people, and has been there since 1914. I think that would be a good theatre to look into. I work for the owner at another one of his locations. I’m not sure how he’d feel about being interviewed or anything..
When you pay an upcharge for a 3D movie, it is NOT for the glasses. It is for the technology that they used to get the 3D in the theatre. But it is true about the child sized 3d Glasses for the Real D 3D versions of any movie right now. They are cute little things!
Well movie534, it is getting ridiculous because theatres are doing their best to try to pry people away from their home theatre systems and out to the actual theatres themselves. I hate that is has come to this :(
That is the reason that it closed down, there were probably other reasons that went along with that too. I assume that once it happened nobody really felt like they wanted to go there since of the stigma around it, so they lost business and just couldnt' afford to stay open. The entire mall is pretty much closed.
They should be starting the building of a brand new mall here. Before I moved away from KC in May they were going to start construction soon. The new construction includes the Metro North Cinemas that is disconnected from the theatre to be included within the mall. I worked at Metro North Cinemas September 06 to May 07 and we were fearing the closing of us soon. Right now they are still opened but are still unsure of when they will be closing.
Their plans for the new Metro north Mall are to make it like Zona Rosa is.. an outside kind of mall. Good luck to them I guess.
The chain/owner of the drive-in is Smith Management Globe Cinemas. A actual owner of the company works as the general manager there when it is opened and his wife runs the concession stand!

Sunday, December 27, 2009 is the last day that this theatre is opened for business.
Does anyone happen to have pictures of this theatre?
I met some of the greatest people of my life at that theatre and I will never forget it either. It will stay with me forever also…
Globe Cinemas didn’t build a single theatre I don’t believe. He just bought out old buildings and re-opened them.
