Avatar in 4D…only in Korea!!!

According to Engadget the James Cameron sci-fi megahit Avatar, which has become the highest grossing film of all time worldwide, is being shown in 4D but only in Korean theaters. What that means is that the audience will hear, feel, taste, and smell the movie.

Just as I have said in numerous other posts here on Cinema Treasures…don’t care about about digital, don’t care about 3D, and I especially don’t care about “Avatar” which I have absolutely NO desire what-so-ever to see. And everyone out there can say what you want, but I have to agree with Love movies – hate going, its getting a little ridiculous.
Well movie534, it is getting ridiculous because theatres are doing their best to try to pry people away from their home theatre systems and out to the actual theatres themselves. I hate that is has come to this :(
Personally I think the way to get people out to the movie theatres is with quality scripts. I find myself going less (and I am an avid movie buff)because most of the films are so poorly scripted. I guess I should realize that years ago all the great script writers (from the golden age) passed away and the mega conglomerates took over programming to teens. I still see some great films but not that many. Gimmicks are great for awhile but gimmicks without quality story lines wear thin quick. I hope that at some point things will change but I sincerely doubt it. So I find myself going back to the oldies but goodies from years past that I can view over and over and enjoy.
Thats why I enjoy running classics every year at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank N.J. on a pair of simplex xl projectors and changeovers every 20 mins. THAT’S what movies are to me, not these sheetrock multiplexes and movies that I wont even waste my time seeing for free, which I can do at the multiplex I work at.

To hell with 3D glasses that pinch the space between your eyes and make the picture on the left and right side of the screen look like it’s bleeding!

Now, as far as AVATAR goes, I saw it, and thankfully, I had a $12.00 “Movie Money” voucher and only had to pay the balance. The movie itself did not have one original element in it, but I’d be lying if I told you that I did not find myself getting caught up in it and enjoying it. If I had the time and opportunity, I’d go see it again in traditional 2D this time. I think I’d enjoy the movie a lot more.

Do they have to pay extra to actually see it?
Well Love movies, I must say, I couldn’t have said it better myself. Now if someday I could come up with $3.5 million ( I know, dream on) then I would buy the beautiful Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth N.J. (2760 seats) and have classic films showing on the old Brenkart projectors and Peerless carbon arc lamps that sit there. And in between, I would love any and all live performances on the huge stage. Really bring back that old theatre expierience.
