Thanks for the info. My assumption was that the latter building was a theater based on its appearance, but it may have been something else.

I noticed two (possibly) former theaters as I cruised down Vermont today. The first was at 8725 S. Vermont and is now occupied by the Nation of Islam. I didn’t stop and visit. The second was a blue art deco structure, at around 91st and Vermont, on the east side of the street. If either of these theaters are listed, please let me know. Thanks.

There was an article in the newspaper last year concerning the purchase of the lot between 3rd and 4th on Main. Apparently some housing units are to be built there. Nothing has happened as of yet as I just parked on the lot today.

I drove by this theater today. The building is still standing. 5863 is a store called Wig Plaza. I noticed two carved falcons on the second story window, above the space where the marquee likely was placed. I thought that was an interesting detail.

I didn’t see any trace of this theater when I drove by there today. The west side of the Vermont block between 43rd and Vernon is a parking lot with a supermarket and adjoining stores.

My grandmother lived on West Queen Lane. Was that near East Falls? I know that Midvale Avenue was close by. Her apartment building was near a train station.

I was watching Gone in 60 Seconds today (the original) and noticed the Palace as well as the State during a chase scene in downtown Long Beach. I also saw a theater with a blank marquee on the east side of Ocean Avenue, but I couldn’t identify that theater.
