Maya was supposed to reopen the closed Cinemastar 20 in San Bernardino,California but,apparently,defaulted on a payment to the city and pulled out,paving the way for Regal to step in. So,i wouldn’t put any trust in Maya Cinemas.
I never got to see “TRON” in first run,i saw it second run at the Rainbow theatre in Henderson,NV while on vacation with my family. Loved it then,love it now.
I’m guessing they’re really closed now since the theatre is no longer in the Laemmle ad in the Los Angeles Times. In its place is a “Coming Soon” announcement for the upcoming North Hollywood location.
It appears that today is the last day of The Sunset 5 as a Laemmle because The Los Angeles has all the current movies there listed as “Last Day”. A sad last day,indeed.
Movies seen here include “Making Love”,“Richard Pryor:Live On The Sunset Strip” and a very weird double feature of “Lovesick”(Dudley Moore/Elizabeth McGovern rom com)&“Treasure Of The Four Crowns”(part of the ‘80s wave of 3D films.) Theatre employees handed out the 3D glasses to the audience before the movie began. And no stupid “surcharge” either.
I goofed. It’s The Premiere Renaissance 20 at Greenspoint Mall since the mall,itself,is still open.
It’s an indoor/outdoor shopping center.
The original indoor five screen theatre opened when the mall did in 1976 and began my love of all things General Cinema,having lived there from May 1977 to March 1979. It closed about a year before AMC acquired GCC.
GCC never left the west coast. They went bankrupt and started closing theatres. Those that didn’t close became part of the AMC chain when they bought GCC.
Although,i’m liking the design,everytime i go to a new page….this pops up:“This site needs a different Google Maps API key. A new one can be found at..” then it gives an address.

The original Paramount release(1975)of “The First Nudie Musical” opened here and at the Fox in Hollywood.
I’m going to buy the Kindle edition for $16.49.

I wonder why Regal put it on thier website when the deal,apparently,hadn’t been finalized. Also,i guess it won’t be a Regal/Edwards house after all.

This is an AMC theatre now called simply Arapahoe Crossing 16. At least that’s what it says on AMC’s website.

The address should read 16741 Valley Blvd Fontana,CA 92335. There is a 24 Hour Fitness & a Pancho Villa restaurant close by.

Having done the math(40,546sq. ft.x$30.00),the asking price is $1,216,380.
I thought this had always been a Krikorian theatre. I don’t recall this as a Regal.
I thought “Popeye” was one of the opening movies here in late 1980.
I love this theatre! I definitely prefer it over the Fox triplex in Banning.
