The book has a photo of the interior of the Adler Opera House with a caption that states that there was an organ installed on November 29, 1922.

There was also an organ purchased for the Trio Theater (later became Relda Theater) in November 1922. The organ cost $12,000.

So I guess he bought two new organs that year for both of his theaters in Marshfield.

From what I have read it has always been called the Alder Opera House.

The Adler Theater (now called Rogers Cinema) was opened on September 25, 1937. It’s located at 419 S. Central Avenue in Marshfield.

The Time Theater was originally the Rex Theater.

The Rex opened in 1911 and closed in June 1939.

The Time Theater opened in July 1939. The front of the building was redone, air conditioning was installed, and new sound equipment was installed. The theater was owned by the General Theater Company of Oshkosh, an affiliate with Marcus-Virnoff Company. The first movie at the Time was Stagecoach.

The Time Cinema was originally a sign screen, it is presently a twin screen.

Marcus Theaters was the last chain to use the building.

There is a group forming to restore the Times. This is there web site.

The Gerold was originally used as a hall.

The opening night was September 2, 1915; there was a dance and two dinners.

In 1923 the Gerold Opera House served as a temporary classroom for the local school. While the school was rebuilt, after a fire that destroyed the school building.

Permanent seat were installed in the 1940’s.

The building is on the Wisconsin Architecture and History Inventory.

edwilke commented about Rosa Theater on Apr 25, 2007 at 10:14 pm

The Rosa Theater was built by John P. Adler owner of Adler Theater Company of Marshfield Wisconsin. The theater was named after his wife Rosamond.

Construction started in 1946 but was stopped because of legal restrictions and there was an error in the boundary lines.

The Grand Opening of the Rosa Theater was on July 31, 1948. (I have one of the souvenir programs given out at the Grand Opening of the Rosa Theater.)

It was originally a single screen with a seating capacity of 554.
