Still shows up in Street View, but in the 500 block of W 8th St. Looks like 2 story building next door was torn down first, it does not show up in the view.
In the photo above from 4/28/09 you can see a fence and carport to the right of the Metro. Google Street View for the 1726 block of Butternut shows a new multi-story building, with a fence and carport to it’s right. Just saying is all…..
Strange. In the ‘71 photo it’s Pastime, in the 1986 photo it’s Bryant’s Inc. Google Street view which is fairly current, shows the old Pastime marquee.
Looks the same to me… Nice looking marquee. Glad they moved the electrical service from the front of the building. Wonder who’s idea was that in the first place?
Comparing the American Classic image, and the Google Street View, I’d change the function of the Royal and Loop theaters to Parking Lot. Closed / Demolished….
I vaguely remember that place. I grew up in El Paso, and every time we went to the movies, it was either a drive-in or on Fort Bliss post. Cheap movies that way. My father had a friend that was the ticket taker, and well you can guess we never paid to get in.
Boy this is getting more confusing. According to the photos at the 2nd link I provided, the old church, which is no longer a church, is or will be the Ivory Theater. There’s even some not so good pictures of the interior.

On the 5 photos I posted on ½/09, on the last one, which guy is the old owner, and which is the consultant? If you know, of course…
Try this….

Looking at Street View, it’s now a parking lot….
Second paragraph here says it’s a church.

There’s a New Life Church. Building sure looks like it could have been a theater.

I meant the photo that was linked to in the post from Lost Memory on 4/28/09 at 6:27 pm. Trying not to get too technical.

Their website said they will be reopening soon. A good sign…

Google map view above shows a place called the Fillmor. Appears to be open at time of Street View photo.

According to another site, this looks like the building. Around 190 Dale St.
H E R E
Looks to be a Quonset hut type of construction. Small view HERE
Street View still shows the building to be there, but googling the address doesn’t bring up any businesses there.
Looks empty in the Google Street View. No visible signs, anyway. FedEx van parked in front of it in the current view.
Looks like the ticket booth was moved at some point between ‘84 and '86 when it closed….
Comparing the American Classic image, and the Google Street View, I’d change the function of the Royal and Loop theaters to Parking Lot. Closed / Demolished….
Think you have the wrong link there Kevin….
Looks like some recent work being done. Taken April 2009 HERE
From 1/20/09 HERE and HERE
Closeup of the marquee, and and even closer closeup…

8 of the last 10 recent comments are “Renewing Link.” This is getting really, really old……
Last photos are from September 2007 plus this note at the end:
Opening night is thwarted by court injunction
So who knows what that means….
