First National Bank, sorry…. (Drive through area) The tree(s) you see to the right of the drive through, are old enough that one was likely the one in the picture to the side of the Alamo Theater. So the Google link I have earlier showed the side of the theater, the front facing to the right.
Yep, looks like 2 or 3 entrances to the building. Sun Realty is listed in some places as 206 or 206B N. Main St. So they could be the central entrance, the left side entrance looks like it goes up some steps first. My guess is there are at least 2 business at this address. Not sure where 282 N. Main St. above refers to.
Yes, I remember when this theater was torn down when they were widening the freeway. There was quite a few buildings in that side of the freeway that are now gone. If I can find it, I still have a piece of the blueish tile that was part of the facade of the building.
Almost next door is Maurice’s which is 302 Main St. Joan’s Hallmark is listed as 310 Main St. But they’re on opposite sides of the street. Which would make the Snyder 311 Main St. Which is also listed as the address as The Grand Theatre in Williston. But it’s not, it’s actually a block away.
Google lists the Grand as 311 or 312 or 211 Main St. 211 is more accurate, but Snyder and Grand are on opposite side of the street so 211 Main and 311 Main don’t work. Maybe it does since the US Bank on 202 Main St. is on the same side of the street as Snyder. Joseph’s Ready to Wear is 205 Main St, right next to the Grand.
Confused yet? I am hopping on the motrorcycle and get out of here…
I have to go to San Antonio tomorrow morning, then to Houston, I’ll be driving right by in the afternoon. I’ll stop and take some photos if anyone is interested. Even if you’re not, I’ll take some anyways.
One more odd thing… In Street View, if you are dead smack in the intersection that the above map puts you in, there are no street lights in any direction. Just one click in either direction, the street lights reappear.
Street View is odd on this one. Only Hwy 54 is mapped out, but the difference between the Street View and Satellite view is totally different. Street View shows after the tornado, satellite show before. Lots of building are gone…
460 would be closer. The jewelry store next to the old theater is listed as 464 Aultman. The Street View shows a Fantasy Fast Photo in the old theater building, but phone listing a Fantasy location, but on 11th St.
Looking at Street View, the entire facade is gone. Just a simple concrete face now, with some windows in the upper floor. Wonder if those were just covered up when the porcelain facade was installed?
Good, building still there. Looks like Child and Family Services (Teen Resource Center) now.

Here’s a couple of small shots of the Alamo back in the day…

Stopped by today and spoke with an older lady at a shop, she said the Alamo was torn down long ago, and a First State Bank now sits in it’s place.
She pointed right at this spot.

The reason for the name, more than likely, was due to it being in a suburb called Arlington Heights, just West of Fort Worth.

At least 72 films were filmed in Las Vegas, NM to date. I just spotted the theater in Red Dawn.
Looking through Google Maps, business locations, and Street View, the address should be 101 E. Bridge Street. Land Bank is 105, Edward Jones is 103….
Can’t quite make out the marquee, but something’s Coming Soon…

If you click on the map link at the top, add another l to the word Marshal to make it work. Town is Marshall
Sorry guys, stopped by today right after 4:00, waited until close to 5:00. Never got in, no one was around… Maybe some other time.

Finally found it on Street View. Around the 346 block of Main St. Nice modern LED marquee too….
