yes, it was showing X-rated films.and they went 24 hours Friday til Subday. Boxoffice opened at 10:00 am and it was Couples Six dollars!1977 prices.Nice looking theatre to have to play adult films.

I always read what you guys are doing and just figured,man those guys must have worked for AMC.I write alot about National Hills theatre,but you all have me beat.Keep on writing,I read them a good bit. I think AMC should give you guys some movie passes.
The State-Lake theatre played some great movies.i recall a lot of good times of those movies in the middle 70’s. That is what is so important about CT,theatres like this.I know now how special it was to work a downtown theatre be it in the windy city or my home of Augusta,they are all but gone only to see a 20 plex pop up next to a shopping center.Take a vote, any thing over 4 screens take off and i am being generious,I would happy with single and twin theatres.
Well, for the record on August 9, 1974 the COVEDALE CINEMA was showing “BORN LOSERS” a cheap re-release of the Billy Jack movies to cash in on Tom Laughlin kicking folks as Billy Jack. It showed at 7:30,9:30 and 11:25. rated PG. The Covedale was a Mid-States-Cinemas.
I was reminded the other day that Barbara Brown was also one of the first Concession stand girls to work at Columbia 1 and 2.Sorry, i left you off the list,but you were always so quite and did good work,i forgot, her brother,Dennis reminded me.
Nope, my 1956 Motion Picture Alamanac has all three Drive-ins listed.But heck, like i read so much on CT so many misprints and such from old materials.
That is what i am not sure of,but one would think Statesboro would have more than one out door screen.Weis Cinemas out of Savannah.I think ran the little twin theatre in Statesboro in the 70’s.but i can’t even remember the name.
It is always good to get a Tennessee Drive-in on CT. Hi-Way 50 was a drive-in that held 350 cars and was owned in the late 50’s by Lewisburg Theatre Co.
As the above marquee shows “ELVIS” movies were always a solid hit at the Drive-ins.The Mena drive-in put 220 cars on the lot owned by Longacre & Cowden.
My 1956 Almanac has the same owner as KenMc wrote. On capacity it has in the book and you can figure it out “20&200"must have been an interesting movie theatre.

I have it parking 625 cars and being owned in 1956 by Tom Hill.

What lousy marquee for a theatre,about the worse i ever saw.Surprized it ever did business.Surely, they put something up better.
