The theater opened in 1977 as part of "Phase II" of Columbia Square Shopping Center on Washington and Columbia Roads. Originally a twin theater, it became second run in the early-1990’s and the two theaters were each split to create four. The theaters ceased operations in 2000.

Playing at my old Theatre is SWAN PRINCESS,LOVE AFFAIR,LITTLE GIANTS,STARGATE,RIVER WILD and THE SPECIALIST.this once proud Twin Theatre reduced to a dollar House……
My father ran the projectors here for a number of years.I remember most of the theaters and drive inns around Augusta as he ran the projectors at most of them at one time or another.

just a couple of weeks ago some of the old crew got together for dinner and night of story telling…
i wish the header was COLUMBIA 1 and 2 Theatres,main reason i have a new facebook page on the old theatre not this screwed up four plex,thanxs.
Most of my memories are from the dollar theater. I guess it was cheaper then so we went more often. I do remember seeing a movie in 1987 called Caught. Billy Graham was in part of it, doing a crusade. It was a Christian movie.

What year did they split the theater into 4 screens?
I frequented this theater in the early 90s, all the way up to its closing, as a kid.
I remember going to Martinez Elementary school, and one year, the entire school spent all day walking from the school to the theater to watch a movie (I can’t remember which movie), but they would send us down there all school day by grade. And we walked!!! HAHA very exciting as a kid.
I vividly remember playing “Samurai Showdown” in the lobby of the theater, for YEARS.
I also remember an older, portly gentleman who would greet everyone that came in, and he was usually working at the concession stand.
The theater is now essentially Portman’s Music store
I would say the 90’s, it was ruined..it was a big twin theatre, large screens, that was probably david hyatt you saw….
