July 12 is when it’s expected to open according to people who work there. The screens will be around 12 screens and there will be a new cinepolis logo to be featured on signage tickets et al. About time a movie theatre in Warren County has recliners. Regal, youre up next!!!
with the closing of that theater this will be one of the few original theaters to still show films since the 1960s, an era in which television became peak Hollywood while Hollywood was churning out epic movies to bring audiences to the theatres such as The Sound of Music and Dr. Zhivago, both of which sold as many tickets as this year’s #1 movie, Avengers Endgame, which is the 5th most popular movie of all time worldwide when adjusted for inflation.
25 years ago today, The Lion King was released and became the biggest animated 2d cartoon of all time. It would get a reissue in the fall holiday season in order to qualify for the oscars, which it did and won some awards.
Yup. And the ticket tearer busy who can also scan qr codes on cell phones. On some screens, AMC has recently put in the reserved seating stickers on secure objects so that kids can’t tear off the labels off the seats. I can’t wait until they revamp the seats with recliners!!!
this theater turns 25 this holiday season. They are busy keeping some screens open and some closed. They should have reserved seating by the time all is said and done, which AMC Rockaway and others already have.
Later this year, this venue turns 50 years old. With the closing of the Paris imminent, there won’t be any more single screen movie houses from this era anymore, although radio city occasionally shows movies and tv shows on its screen.
A few weeks ago, Barnes and Noble Booksellers was sold to a private equity firm ending its run as a public company and leaving behind its sister education division as the sole company to bear the B and N name to still be public on the market.
Nope, it will be shown exclusively in 35mm and 4k as to echo the cheapness at the time. BTW, lion king tickets went on sale today. When the first movie came out 25 years ago today, this theater was a few months away from opening and the film would be shown there during its fall reissue and again in 2002 for the imax version and the 2011 3d reissue. The imax version is the version I own on dvd and can also be found on the bluray version of the film which includes redrawn cells and the morning report song. I’m glad that this theater still shows real film in the imax and 70mm screens.
same here. I actually went to the bathroom during the super long Hobbs and Shaw trailer which i’ve seen a bajillion times online as well as most trailers before seeing Anna. Movie was well done and crowd behaved very good. Projection was good and the picture was in its proper ratio. The soundtrack was good too yet seeing the subtitles was a little soft. I plan on seeing Toy Story 4 and Annabelle Comes Home next week. I find it easier to pay tickets from a cashier instead of a machine as that process can be complicated if you order via a touchscreen.
went to see Child’s Play yesterday great sound mix good picture but part of the orion logo was a bit cut off due to the usual masking issues that AMC is notorious for. Also the cleaning people came by during part of the preshow. I can’t believe how many previews were shown before a 90 minute movie, including several R rated trailers!!! I highly recommend preordering your food before you head to the concession stand since the lines can get very long. Theater wasn’t clean as they left some stuff in there.
Saw men in black in dolby last night and thought it was good. They cropped the screen from the full frame I saw in the trailers on tv..e.g. the Columbia logo was cut off. Sound was good though.
Went to see Aladdin in theater 6 and enjoyed it. The visuals and sound were great. Crowd behaved nicely. This movie will last for awhile until toy story and lion king dominate the theater. Oh, and Spider-Man too!!!

Do they keep the scope frame on even for flat movies here in dolby?
Do they crop the aspect ratio even with flat movies? The rockaway location seems to do that recently. How about the sharpness and audio?

The sound system they use here is much better than the imax and regular screens.

theater was closed yesterday and the night before due to a popcorn fire but has since reopened.
the seats don’t recline that much.
there’s also carpeting on the floor which makes it comfy to walk onto. You can easily lose your possesions so be careful once the movie’s over.
they kept it that way through the trailers and the movie for men in black, which was originally shot in flat ratio.
They also played the stuber trailer twice first without the rating and second with the r rating.

The only bad thing about this theater is that its near a major highway which can bring car noise to the theater such as sirens et al.
