Saturday, April 30, they had a showing of “REMEMBER THE TITANS”, Denzel Washington played Coach Herman “Ike” Boone. Coach Boone is from Rocky Mount and the Coach and T.C. Williams High School of Rocky Mount are in the movie. Coach Boone’s came back home to Rocky Mount for the movie in the refurbished Booker T Theater.

Beach Movie Bistro Inc. is owned by Virginia Beach brothers Donald Pollard Jr. and John Pollard with two out-of-town partners. The Pollard’s parents owned the long-gone Surf ‘n’ Sand Motel, which stood on the site that became the movie theater. The 20,000-square-foot Surf ‘n’ Sand opened with 8 screens.

Around 1985 bought by Kerasotes Theatres of Springfield, Ill. George Kerasotes, President, they had over 30 theaters in Illinois and Michigan. They split the original 2 theaters to make a total of 6 screens.
Around 1995 bought by National Amusements, Inc. (Redstone Management, of Boston, Michael, Edward & Summer Redstone, Officers) they had 44 theaters in Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. They made it into a discount cinema.
1997 closed by National Amusements when they opened Cinema 10.
