May 10, 2011 — Studio Movie Grill expected to open in Scottsdale, AZ this autumn

Opened with ten screens on May 10, 1996 under the United Artists banner, it became a Regal theatre after they took over the UA chain. It closed in 2010 when a new and larger megaplex with stadium seating opened nearby.

It reopened on November 11, 2011 as the latest in the Texas-based Studio Movie Grill chain with upscale food and beverage service, showing movies on nine screens and with 1,300 fewer seats. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Studio Movie Grill went out of business in January 2021 and the theatre was permanently closed. In July 2021 it was taken over by Touchstar Cinemas and reopened in December 2021 as the Sonora Village Luxury Cinemas. It was closed on February 5, 2024.

This theater has been completely revamped, and Studio Movie Grill has been open since 2012. It features first rate facilities including full food and beverage service as you watch. This is no longer closed for remodeling, it is open for business!
