Gourmet theaters may save industry
NEW YORK, NY — With new theaters offering fulls meals in the New York, Gawker investigates a new trend that may help turn the theater business around.
Soon gone will be the days of stale popcorn with chemical butter sauce and watery Diet Coke. Instead we’ll be feasting upon croquettes and deviled eggs. Movie theaters are getting fancy.

Drive-ins are family affair
HENDERSON, NC — Brought together through an AOL dating site, Jim and Megan Kopp now split their time between their two drive-ins in neighboring states, the Raleigh Road and Family Drive-in. It isn’t always easy, but it’s definitely a labor of love for these two.

Champaign theater might become co-op
CHAMPAIGN, IL — After less than two years, the relatively new owners of the Art Theatre have not been able to make ends meet. While they’re open to any suggestions, they’re recommending it become a co-op so the community can take responsibility for it.

Could Varsity rise again as a theater?
PALO ALTO, CA — One of the more interesting conversion-styles of the past twenty years, theater->bookstore could be reversed in Palo Alto if some locals have their way. The Borders in the Varsity Theatre has closed so they’re pushing for it to become a theater again. Whether this is even feasible is still up for debate.

Warner Theatre celebrates 80 years
TORRINGTON, CT — On the eve of its 80th Birthday, the Register Citizen looks at the history of the Warner Theatre. Many thought its days were numbered 30 years ago when it closed as a movie theater, but it came back big a decade ago after years of restorations.
