Another Grand festival of silents
EAST GREENVILLE, PA — The Grand Theater, the Upper Perkiomen Valley’s fully restored 1924 landmark, presents another outstanding silent film lineup for the 2013 season. Come enjoy entertainment the way movies were first seen at the Grand – SILENT!
On Sunday, September 29th at 3PM we will be present the 1921 movie that defined heartthrob Rudolph Valentino in “The Sheik”.
On Sunday, October 27th at 3PM we present the horror masterpiece “The Phantom of the Opera” (1925) starring ‘The man of 1000 faces’, Mr. Lon Chaney.

Tri-City 8 set to close
LARGO, FL — The Tri-City 8 is closing its doors later this year as the aging Tri-City Plaza undergoes a major redevelopment. The theatre has stood there since 1986 and there are no plans for it to be replaced.

Cass Warner attends WFC Kickoff
NEW CASTLE, PA — Cass Warner, granddaughter of the late Harry Warner, will visit the developing Warner Film Center in downtown New Castle and hold a press conference there Thursday, Sept. 26, at 11:00 a.m.
Ms. Warner, CEO of Warner Sisters, Inc., will help to inaugurate the Film Center’s historical and educational facility at the site of the Warner Brothers’ first theatre, the Cascade nickelodeon, at 18 South Mill Street. She will be greeted by cinema consultant, writer, film historian, and major contributor to the Warner project, Mr. Jack Oberleitner, in the front of a replica of the original theatre facade.
At this event, WFC will unveil its floor plan for the museum on this site and the mural in the entryway by local artist Ken Cole. Rita Dorsch, Community Development Trustee, will release details about the WFC’s first major fundraising campaign.

Folks step up to save Main Street theaters
WINDOM, MN — Locals came out big in raising funds and renovating the State Theatre after it was in danger earlier this year. Now nearby Luverne is trying to save their Palace Theatre through fundraising events. Their stories show how it literally takes a village, all on the same page, to get behind and save one of these.

Movies not out of the question for Ramsey Cinema
RAMSEY, NJ — The new owner of the [Ramsey Cinema] could open it again for movies if there is interest from a renter. It wasn’t originally under consideration but the public has rallied for it ever since closing.

Nightclub to revitalize Globe space
LOS ANGELES, CA — In the Globe Theatre previous incarnation, Club 740, the nightclub was more known for its frequent violence than its opulent surroundings. New owner Erik Chol hopes that’s not the case with his new nightclub venture that plans to be more respectable with a focus on the charm of the building. The centerpiece will be a cleaned up marquee with an entrance back on Broadway.

Investor requests help to save downtown Antioch movie theater
ANTIOCH, IL — The future is unclear for the Antioch Theater as it’s temporarily closed as the owners don’t have the funds to convert to digital. The theater needs community support to raise the money to remain financially viable. With $650,000 being the price tag on all the developers plans though, they have a big hill to climb.

TCL Chinese renovation unveiled
HOLLYWOOD, CA — The grand reopening isn’t until this Friday but insiders have already gotten a peak at the new TCL Chinese Theatre. It boasts the largest IMAX theatre in the world and one of the largest screens.
