    Help with pro forma on cinema/drafthouse

    I’m currently in the infant stages of drafting a pro forma for a cinema drafthouse.

    Right now, I am focusing on operating costs, as much of the renovations and fixed assets may be handled through foundation. In a theater that’s roughly 80,000 sq feet, 2 levels, I need to decide what my costs might be – power, water, and how much help will be required to run the beer/wine bar, projection, and restaurant costs- food service (think upscale bar food), cost of food, etc.

    What skilled positions will I need? Any help greatly appreciated.

    Life Magazine seeks the most interesting cinemas in America

    CinemaTour is working with a Life magazine writer to come up with a list of the most interesting cinemas in America.

    Recently, the Life cover was on unusual churches — the smallest, the hippest, the most stained glass. It was a big hit and now we want to do movie theaters. Specifically, we’re looking for things like the most romantic, most remote, most haunted, highest altitude, best food, most family friendly.

    TV Show Looking for Drive-in Theater/Home

    Hello – I’m with Offbeat America, a Home & Garden Television (HGTV) show that features fun and funky homes and homeowners across America.

    Do you know of any drive-in theater owners and/or managers who live (ideally year-round) in the drive-in’s main building? Same building where concessions are sold and the projector is located.

    Best scenario would be a young family that has done some fun things with the home and really get a kick out of living there.

    In addition to drive-ins, we’re very interested in learning about ANY home that is extraordinary in design or decor. But it really has to be unique.

    Looking to re-open classic movie theatres in the Toronto area

    TORONTO, CANADA — Would anyone be interested in stating up a small movie theater bizz or project in and around Toronto and the GTA (Greater Toronto Area)?

    I looking for people that are movie theater buffs and that enjoys taking on tasks and have enough brains and bucks to do it.

    I for one are tired of the Mega-Plex theaters that are going up everywhere, and im sure everyone eles here feels the same way, other wise you would not be on this website. Right?

    Im looking at re-opening classic movie theatres that have been closed for sometime in the GTA, with locations in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Toronto.

    I already have lots of great ideas in doing this task, but I need some help in this project.

    Need advice on movie theater startup costs

    One screen theatre, converted back from plays to movies.

    Will need :
    1 digital projector
    1 new screen
    1 new sound system
    Cost of film rentals

    Theatre and seats were remodeled recently they are in good shape. HVAC and building are in good shape.

    Looking for an idea of a basic startup cost to get the theatre up and rolling again. It’s a small town of 5,000.

    Any helpful hints would be great, thanks.

    Advice on a theme theater

    I am not sure if I am posting in the right place, but I was wondering if anyone has any experience with theme theaters.

    I happen to love horror movies and think that it would be really cool to have a movie theater that plays only horror movies — old ones, new ones, classics. Unfortunately, I have no idea if this is really a feasible idea or if I would have to find a balance of popular movies and horror movies to pay the bills. Any advice?

    Also, I am curious to know what the average cost of getting copies of older movies from distributors. I would appreciate any help. Please contact me at .

    Theatre restoration artist

    Hello. I am a professional commercial artist (published book illustrations, portraiture, cartoons) in New York City.

    I have a parallel career in (legit) theatre administration (16 years). I want to combine my artistic skills with my passion and experience in theatre and am exploring my options in theatre restoration. (muralist/ decorative artist? I’m open to suggestions).

    Cinemart Theater To Undergo Partial Restoration: Search for vintage photos

    FOREST HILLS, NY — My name is Michael Perlman, and I am a Forest Hills preservationist who is assisting the owner of the Cinemart Theater with the restoration of an ornate coffered ceiling from 1925.

    The ceiling is located in the entryway/lobby, & is concealed with lackluster, industry-standard paneling. The theater was formerly known as the Metropolis and the Inwood. This is one of the many activities I hope to accomplish in honor of Forest Hills' 100th anniversary this year.

    I would appreciate it if anyone can share photos of the interior/exterior prior to the 2002 renovation (1925-2001), since this will assist us in the restoration. If you don’t have any photos, I would appreciate any bit of advice as to where I can find some. Also, if you can provide some restoration tips, that would be of great help too.     Newby Needs Help

    Hi, I am getting ready to open a theater and need lots of advice. I am in an artsy area and plan on showing art films and independent films. There is currently no projection equipment or a functional screen in the theater. Can someone please give me an idea of what type to buy, a good place to buy, and the typical cost of the projection equipment as well as the cost to run the movies?

    Book Project on Wisconsin Drive-ins Seeks Help

    Hello, my name is Charles Bruss. I am currently working on a book project about the histories of Wisconsin drive-in theatres. Your help with this is greatly needed. I am looking for interesting stories of people’s fond memories of attending and/or working at any of Wisconsin’s current or closed drive-in theaters.
