MEDITERRANEAN HOLIDAY
RUSSIAN ADVENTURE
CUSTER OF THE WEST
THIS IS CINERAMA 1973 re-issue

TRIVIA:
Miami was the 20th U.S. market to equip for Cinerama presentations.

Miami was the first market to play Cinerama films out of their production sequence.

Miami was the only U.S. market to have two 3-strip theaters simultaneously running 3-strip presentations (Florida and Sheridan during 1963).

  • Miami and Miami Beach are separate cities. The 1961 return engagement of THIS IS CINERAMA at the Florida was promoted as the “first time in Miami” to distinguish it from the original run of the film that took place five years earlier in Miami Beach at the Roosevelt. (The Sheridan was also located in Miami Beach.)

You’re up to 27…which begs the question: How many Cinerama cities were there?

What’s the difference between a “Florida Premiere” and a “Southern Premiere”?

The Southern Premiere usually included any area south of Washington D.C. and east of Texas. Movies were rushed to Miami in order to catch New Yorkers on vacation or take advantage of celebrities in the area who could attend gala events.

“THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD” was advertised as a SOUTHERN WORLD PREMIERE which really makes you wonder where the SOUTHERN WORLD really starts.

Not to take anything away from Miami but I’m bitting my nails waiting for Denver’s turn. BTW – AlAlvarez, I liked those lobby pictures connected to the Sheridan link.
