This is what I’m thinking as well. I just need to find the right person to talk to locally when the theaters convert to digital or close down. Does anyone know who pulls booth equipment out of Regal theaters in Portland OR? I know ACE doesn’t do it.
Regal usually has their own crew from Knoxville, Tennessee pull out equipment from theaters they close. When they closed the Capital Mall 4 plex here in Olympia a couple of years ago, Regal had American Cinema Equipment pull the equipment out. I was there for that one.
Forgot to mention they are about 4 hours drive from Portland in Walla Walla WA and in great working order. I have been using them for outdoor movie showings and they have spectacular sound but I don’t really need them anymore.

Contact American Cinema Equipment (www.cinequip.com) in Portland, Oregon. They have a huge warehouse of used projection/sound equipment.

With all the theaters going digital in the near future cheaper equipment should be coming on the market as there will be a surplus.
