This NOT a paid job. I am interested in old theaters and from time to time come upon info that should be on this site, but I don’t have the time to research it, organize it, write it or have a place to host pictures. For instance, I travel a lot and was in Pittsburgh and West Virginia last weekend. I have pix and info on a WV theater not in the database, pix of one that is, a newspaper article with lots of history on a theater that closed in Pittsburgh two months ago.
While I was in Wheeling, WV I came upon the Capitol Theatre that had just closed. I went online and found an article and posted it here, but really didn’t summarize the article the way it should have been. So, what I’m looking for is someone I can email links, or digital pix, or notes, or actual physical articles and brochures (from my travels) who will then post this stuff in the proper way.
If it matters, I’m in Los Angeles. (I also have pix of the demolition of a theater in Inglewood, CA a few months ago.) One more thing. I’m not looking for an email pal. Just for someone with a lot more time on his hands than I have.

Homeboy; Please… the name of the Inglewood, Ca., theater you said was under demolition.

The only two theatres in the Inglewood area that it could be are the 5th Avenue Theatre (new building) or the Imperial Theatre (which has been razed a few months ago). Someone else posted some pictures of it. The Fox Theatre was just sitting there but was not in as much danger.

I have pix of the demolition of the Imperial.
And by the way, I’m not looking for someone to post materials under my name. I just want to forward stuff to someone else. You can post it under your name or ignore what I send. No big deal. If you post, you get the credit. (Although I’d like to keep the rights to my pix.) I just don’t have a place to host pictures, or the time to transcribe or re-write stories.
I can’t take on this task, but do wish to advise you that flickr (www.flickr.com)offers free photo gallery hosting. You download your theater photos to it once signing up for your free account. You then label your theater photos, at least with name of city and theater. There are people reading cinematreasures.org who often review those photos and link them to this site to the appropriate theater page. I know you’d like more help than that, but I thought you, and others reading this, might appreciate this advice. There are other photo hosting cites like photobucket frequently linked to, but I myself use flickr.
Free flickr photo gallery limits how many photos you can download per month. One way to get around that is by shrinking each photo’s memory. I use Irfanview to do that, another site that can be freely downloaded and used. However, you don’t have to shrink the photos, especially if there aren’t that many to post.

I grew up watching horror flicks 2 for .75. I have an avid love for all old theatrical movie houses. I grew up in the Warner Theater in Lawrence Mass. I close my eyes and can still see, it, the orchestra pit, stage, huge velvet red curtains, the look of the rugs leading downwards to the first row, which looks almost like every carpet in every photo I have. I run a website www.horrortheatervideo.com which I dedicate mostly to the glorious days of the horror double features of the 60’s, and 70;s. I also am a photographer and photgraph as many old drive-ins and theaters that I can. I recently moved to Claremont NH and passed a closed old theater in a part of downtown where the whole street is full of closed building. In fact the house I bought was built in 1865. I am also in preproduction on filmming my first independent film. With all that going on I will like to offer my services. I notice you got a few one sentence answers saying send everything to me me I can do it, but I have explained in detail my love of this genre, have a large depth of knowledge of the architecture and the times of these palaces, and feel I can be a help to you. My script takes place largely in an abandoned movie house, an I hope I found the perfect one. If anyone in the Claremont NH knows of any palaces, pleaase make me aware. As for your site, I feel my experience and absolute dovotion to theaters will be of great help, If interested, please let me know what is involved and I will begin when you are ready to send.
