The original Lincoln Theater

The Lincoln Theatre opened in February 22, 1920 as an African-American theatre with seating provided for 1,500. It was located on the northwest corner of E. 18th Street and Lydia Avenue. It went through a major remodel in 1936 with seating reduced to 1,350. The architect was Robert O. Boller of the Boller Brothers. The remodel transformed the theatre into a Streamline Moderne house. The Lincoln Theatre closed in 1953.
