This theatre opened as the Gem Theatre in 1939. It was later renamed the Mercier Theatre. After a remodel in the late-1950’s it got its third and final name the Sunderman Theatre. The two story building had white tile down to the small triangle-shaped marquee. Under the marquee the tile was black with red trim. The small marquee and upright sign were trimmed in red with red neon.
The theatre closed sometime in the early-1970’s. Seating was 386. It outlasted the Palace Theatre which was the other Main Street theatre by a couple decades. The theatre was located on main street which is also known as Court House Square.
In the late-1990’s, the auditorium was torn down and the lobby area converted into office space.

In the late 1990s, the auditorium was demolished and the lobby was converted to office space. The marquee still graces the facade.
