The Century Theatre in London opened as Loew’s London Theatre in 1924, operating under a class A license which allowed for both theatrical performances and motion pictures. It was extensively renovated in 1939, and again in the late-1940’s.
The theatre was taken over by United Century Theatres in 1964, renamed the Century Theatre, and converted into a dual auditorium. The auditorium was demolished in the early-1990’s, but former patrons still remember the long walk up the entrance hall to enter the theatre proper.
This hallway has been preserved, and now functions as a nightclub and restaurant.

Thanks for the post Mike I had forgotten about this one, old age is setting in I guess. Love the photo of the Loews London, in Canada of all places. By the way do you ever save any photos on your computer?
By the way I was refering to the photos from the June 26, 2009 post the fifth one down.
Just read Robin’s post at NationalHills.
Already did.
Century Theatre London was originally built and operated by Loew’s Theatres — it was quite ornate. Nat Taylor’s Twinex Century Theatres (a Famous Player partner) took it over in 1964 and made it into two fairly nice theatres. The smaller theatre (The Little Century) was a bit too shotgun in its approach for me. Mike Rogers and TS Loews I just want you guys to know that I hung around and knew this one very well!!
