Osprey Cove Apartments presently stand at the former site of the Loews Harmon Cove.
The WWOR facilities was demolished recently
Last november, Fox sold the WWOR facilities nearby to Hartz Mountain as it now operates it in WNYW in NYC.
This opened on December 15th, 1976 with The Pink Panther Strikes again. The 2nd screen opened on the 17th with King Kong and the other two others opened on the 22nd with the Enforcer and Marathon Man. Ad in photo section.
The harmon cove was still around when meadow 6 opened but closed as plaza 8 opened.
The first film to play the Harmon Cove was “King Kong” (Jessica Lange version) in December 1976. It was exciting to attend that opening night because it was the first completely new theater I’d ever been to.
“Blade Runner” in June 1982 was the first attraction at the Loew’s Meadows 6, which replaced the Harmon Cove along with the even-bigger Loew’s Meadows 8 a few years later, so I figure the Harmon Cove must have closed around this same time.
First I have heard of this LOEWS.
the first movie theater in Secaucus was called the Plaza theater, which is also on cinema treasures. It seated 400. Was it also owned by Loews?
et first played here weeks before the meadow six opened and played that movie after the quad closed.

From Loews 1976 annual report:
“During 1976, a new three screen complex in Inverarry, Florida, and a new quad cinema in Harmon Cove, New Jersey, were opened.”
From Loew’s 1982 annual report:
“During 1982 the [Theatres] Division added seventeen new screens in three ultra-modem complexes. Our new theatres, featuring spacious lobbies with giant refreshment centers, and large, wide auditoriums with wall-to-wall screens, which our research indicates the public prefers, have met with great acceptance.
“In the fast-growing Houston suburbs, a five- screen complex was opened in the exclusive Southpoint Center. A six-screen free-standing building was constructed opposite New Jersey’s mammoth shopping center, Willowbrook Mall, and another six-screen theatre is the focal point of the Harmon Meadow complex of shops, hotel, restaurants and office buildings located within sight of the New Jersey Meadowlands sports complex.”
