The former Loews Harmon Cove was opened as a single screen on December 15, 1976 with Peter Sellers in “Pink Panther Strikes Again”. Screen 2 opened on December 17, 1976 with Jessica Lang in “King Kong”. Two other screens opened on 22nd December 1976 with Clint Eastwood in “The Enforcer” & Dustin Hoffman in “Marathon Man”. It had a blank wall facing the street and the entrance and parking was around in the back, not easy to find. Its off-the-beaten-path location was probably the reason Loews built a six-plex and eight-plex in newer major shopping areas on the other side of Route 3, and the older quad was closed on December 10, 1986.
The building was gutted and became ‘The Outlets at the Cove’, a group of four outlet stores with a café. The pylon sign was still standing at the intersection of Route 3 and Meadowlands Parkway, advertising the outlet stores. It had been demolished by 2021 and apartments now stand on the site.

et first played here weeks before the meadow six opened and played that movie after the quad closed.
the first movie theater in Secaucus was called the Plaza theater, which is also on cinema treasures. It seated 400. Was it also owned by Loews?
First I have heard of this LOEWS.
The first film to play the Harmon Cove was “King Kong” (Jessica Lange version) in December 1976. It was exciting to attend that opening night because it was the first completely new theater I’d ever been to.
“Blade Runner” in June 1982 was the first attraction at the Loew’s Meadows 6, which replaced the Harmon Cove along with the even-bigger Loew’s Meadows 8 a few years later, so I figure the Harmon Cove must have closed around this same time.
The harmon cove was still around when meadow 6 opened but closed as plaza 8 opened.
This opened on December 15th, 1976 with The Pink Panther Strikes again. The 2nd screen opened on the 17th with King Kong and the other two others opened on the 22nd with the Enforcer and Marathon Man. Ad in photo section.
Last november, Fox sold the WWOR facilities nearby to Hartz Mountain as it now operates it in WNYW in NYC.
