News About This Theater

Showcase Cinemas Milan, Illinois 61264

Theatre was opened October 30, 1968 as a two screen complex (each screen could hold about 950). A third screen was added on March 12, 1971 (this screen could hold over 1,000). Another lobby was added with a fourth screen on November 16, 1973. Later, one of the original, the third screen, and the newest two were all split (bringing the total to 9 screens). One theater was added to the rear of the complex, but a couple of years later, this theatre was split to bring the total to 11 screens.

The theatre was once described as the best theatre between Chicago and LA. The theatre was closed on January 15, 2001. The theatre and lot sat empty until the summer of 2004 when the theatre was demolished.
