The depressing wreckage of the Wallace Theatre sits on Muleshoe’s S. Main Street. This theatre was once very nice for a small town. Facade is green and white concrete with ‘WALLACE’ in red running vertically down the middle. There was also neon tubing set into the facade. Street level is done in aqua tile (the same as in my old shower). The ticket booth is an odd affair with very sharp angles.

The building is in ruins. Parts of the roof or walls are missing (there’s sunlight in the interior in my photo), doors are boarded up, and someone seems to have rammed a vehicle into the front between the doors, which is impressive because Muleshoe has old fashioned curbs that are probably 12-18" above street level. Probably only the general lack of money has kept it from being demolished.

Wallace Theatre in Muleshoe, TX. has been purchased. The new owners have had all the debri from the interior removed and they are scheduled to meet with Engineers and contractors in mid-February. The side walls of the Theatre are common walls shared by the businesses on either side and have been determined to be structurally sound. Therefore, construction will consist of a new roof, remodeling the front of the building to include the new name ‘Trinity’ and remodeling the interior.

If anyone knows of Theatres that are closing and would like to sell any of theatre items, please post a note.

I’d be interested in any pre-construction photos of the Wallace Theatre in Muleshoe. My husband is related to the founder of the Wallace Theatre chain in Texas, Wallace Blankenship…
