Is this theatre still standing? I hope it is and that it has reopened and is showing classic movies.

This was operated by Mid-State Theatres. I saw ‘March of the Penguins’ here, which must have been just before it closed. They were not very friendly, and wouldn’t let me bring my camera in. I had to run back and lock it in the trunk, and missed getting the marquee lit up. The theater had several ‘loveseat’ double seats. As of a year or so ago, it was still in pretty good shape. It looked like they’d tried running a snack bar out of the lobby for a while.

Ok and thanks for the correction as so many PA towns end in “ville”, but not this one!

It’s about 65 miles SW of Scranton, and about 57 miles N of Harrisburg, off of I-80. (BTW, the place name is Watsontown).

Where is Watsonville located in the State of PA as I might be able to see this theatre if it is within a comfortable driving distance?

Also read that there are only about 300 single screen theatres left in the country. I would like to think there are more than 300 left as so many are listed on CT as either open or closed and not demolished.

Eventually there will be no local theaters left. Certainly a shame.

What a charming little theatre! Is it about to close? Sure hope not though a down economy and the “outside of town” multiplexes do not help matters! Such a shame as the multiplexes have NO CHARM!

Its really a great theatre! Excellent ticket prices, freindly staff, and as mentioned above, one of the finest sound systems in the area. You literally feel the sounds! The theatre also sports an antique ice cream parlor, and frequently hosts special events and costume contests! The Watson Theatre is definatley my favorite video house in the great state of Pennsylvania!!
