This is a low, wide brick building originally built as a carriage house at the turn of the century. After serving as a bus depot, it became a movie theater. Sometime around 1979, it closed and became a dinner theater. The moderne marquee survives from cinema days. The lower part of the front is covered by cheap plywood siding painted red.
By 2009, it was operating as a live theater.

This theater is now home to the Auburn Avenue Theater group — a local community theater. They do dinner theater (mostly musicals), and the troupe’s shows are quite popular.
The building itself is about 100 years old. It has served in a variety of capacities — carriage house, bus depot, movie theater and live theater. For the last 15 years it has been family owned and operated.

The theater troupe “retired,” and the building is being leased to the City of Auburn. According to the Web site above, the city has announced plans to renovate the building.
