The Globe Family Theatre located right next to the Moore Hotel opened its doors on May 20, 1909 as a replacement of the nearby Dreamland Theatre which closed two months prior in late-March 1909 and demolished days later to make way for the Savings & Trust Company structure. This theatre was notable by locals for its multicolored light-up globe that dazzled moviegoers with a plaster-of-Paris exterior tinted purple and gold.

Alongside the 400 seats in total, there were also five exits being installed to minimize any danger such as fires and threats. The Globe Family Theatre was almost destroyed by a fire on May 16, 1912 resulting a $25,000 blaze in the neighboring Thomas Flats building, though that fire was not caused by any equipment at the theatre. The Globe Family Theatre was renamed the Pitt Theatre in May 1914, and later the Strand Theatre by January 1915. It was closed in October 1924.
