Tauranga is a harbourside city in the Bay of Plenty region on New Zealand’s North Island.
The Goddards Centre opened in 1991. It is named after Ray Goddard, who owned a book store on the site which had a gift shop (The Attic) upstairs. That building was demolished to make way for the new centre, and the owner kept the name, paying tribute to Ray’s time there.
The Rialto Cinema opened in 2005. It is situated above the town library.
In around December 2023 a change of management saw it being renamed the Luxe Cinemas. It was given a suitably luxurious refurbishment and is a very well appointed and attractive cinema.
Seating capacities are: Screen 1:60, Screen 2:58 and Screen 3:84.
