The Cineograph was advertised in the Humboldt Times as early as August 24, 1907. The Times reported Pettengill & Whetstone opened the Pastime Theatre, formerly the Cineograph, on May 16, 1908.

Reports in the Times on November 4, 1912, said Mr. Pettengill was tearing down the old Pastime Theatre and constructing a new 400-seat Pastime Theatre on the site.

The New Pastime Theatre opened February 28, 1913.

On August 3, 1920, the Times reported the Pastime Theatre was closing tomorrow after thirteen years. Mr. Pettengill realized that the movie business had outgrown the theatre and the public would be best served at the Rialto Theatre and Orpheus Theatre. By 2007 it had been demolished and the site is a parking lot.

Well known Eureka businessman, Bert L. Pettengill died in December 1968.
