Built and opened in 1949 and run by the Allen family as a movie theatre until 1982, the Totah Theater had a seating capacity for 500. Home of San Juan Stage company for a few years then closed and used for storage.
Purchased in May 2004 by Thomas Taylor. In 2006, the Totah Theater was converted into a multi-use performance hall for concerts, independent and classic film, plays and much more.

In 1963, Helen Allen was president of Allen Theaters. Larry Allen was vice president. Allen theaters in Farmington at the time were the Allen, Apache Twin Drive-In, Totah and Valley Drive-In.

From the smattering of events listed on the calendar at the theater’s web site, it looks like the Totah is now actually open, if only for a few days each month.
The site also gives the current seating capacity as 300.

Boxoffice, Jan. 8, 1949: “Russell Allen is building a 550-seat, $100,000 theatre in Farmington, N. M., where he already owns another. The new theatre will be given an Indian name, Totah, and is scheduled to open in the spring.”
