This large wooden building contained a public hall on the ground floor, and a lodge hall on the 2nd. It was built sometime prior to 1913, and was three stories with a barn roof.
By 1914, movies were being shown here. It was then known as the Schaller Opera House. By 1926, it was being listed as simply the Opera House. It’s unclear whether this was an informal way of referring to the building, or if there was an actual name change. The theatre closed briefly around 1935, and by 1936 it had reopened as the Iowa Theatre. By 1950, it was operating as the Schaller Theatre. It seems to have closed in 1957.
For many years, this was a hardware store. It’s unclear whether that is still operating, but there does appear to be someone living in it. The facade had become very shabby, but in 2016 the community put new siding up.
