Postville Theatre

This theater appears on the January 1913 Sanborn, in the westernmost storefront of a very old two-story brick commercial block that likely dates from the 1870’s. The 1902 map shows a harness shop here. (It may have been named Iris Theatre?)

In what is likely a case of taking the space you can get, this section of the building is actually not nearly as deep as the other three. This theater closed sometime in 1929, and was replaced by a new theater across the street.

The building is in decent shape, although this section has an unattractive shingle awning and a rather odd fill of the storefront. It seems to be an apartment.
