The TOHO Cinemas Seven Park Amami is the first movie theater to open in the Matsubara area after the closures of three movie theaters in the area which were the “Showa-za”, the “Amami Eigeki”, and the “Matsubara Eigeki”. All three of them closed in the 1960’s, leaving the Matsubara area in the dark for more than a half-century apart from occasional screenings in the Matsubara City Cultural Centre (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). Throughout it, people mainly had to catch films in Osaka.
The 10-screen theater located on the 4th floor of Seven Park Amami opened its doors on November 17, 2021 featuring a seating capacity of 1,639. All auditoriums have two wheelchairs each, with Screen 10 having the most seats with 275 with TCX.

Correction: The Matsubara area of Osaka does have a cultural center nearby that does screen movies during the very long darkness but only in rare occasions. It will have its own CT page soon.
