Electric Theatre

This theater appears on the 1909 Sanborn in a two story brick commercial building that dated to sometime before 1897, and had been a saloon. It is unclear whether Electric was the name or a generic designation.

Though this was an ideal location for an early theatre, being just off the courthouse square in a more generously sized structure than many early conversions, it was not a success, and the 1914 map shows a printing operation there.

The building is present through the 1927 map, but at some point this entire half of the block was demolished for a chintzy cinderblock McDonald’s and parking lot.
