In Gallatown, once a separate village, but now a suburb of Kirkcaldy, Fifeshire, on 16th February 1920, a former church was re-opened as the Palladium Cinema.

According to the 1923 Kinematograph Year Book, by that time the Palladium Cinema was being operated by Palladium Pictures Ltd., and film shows were on a “continuous” basis.

By the 1932 J. B. Leishman was the proprietor, and a British Thomson Houston (BTH) sound system had been installed. There were by then two changes of programme each week.

In 1944 the Palladium Cinema was acquired by Glen Cinemas.

The final full listing in the Kinematograph Year Books was in 1954. Abbreviated entries followed until 1957, when it was shown as “Closed”. So presumably the Palladium Cinema closed around 1953-1954.

It is assumed the building has been demolished.
