Sykes Theatre

The Popular Theatre was opened in 1921. By 1935 it had been renamed Ideal Theatre and was operated by the Ideal Amusement Co. chain. In spring of 1945 it was renamed Sykes Theatre and was operated by the Mid-States Theaters Inc. chain. It was still open in 1957.

According to Moving Picture World (December 24, 1921) the theatre was opened by Jehu Jehu and had 600 seats

Also according to Boxoffice (May 5th, 1945) it was renamed a second time from Ideal Theatre to The Sykes

This has been demolished, likely many years ago. Address would have been an odd number on W Main St, maybe something like 11? The building to the left in the photo is still visible on the 2008 Streetview. The location is a parking lot.
