Angela and Rick Martinez opened Arthouse at Blue Star, located in the Blue Star Arts Complex, August 27, 2021, with Gloria Swanson in “Sunset Boulevard”.
The former art gallery contains 60 movable seats with 20 to 30 available because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Even then on the second night “Mulholland Drive” was sold out and a second showing had to be added.
S.A. Life reports the Martinezes have operated Slab Cinema since 2004, screening art movies around San Antonio on inflatable screens and this is their first permanent indoor location.
The Blue Star Arts Complex is a center of galleries, art and photography studios, pubs, dining and retail.
