Columbus, Indiana formerly had 2 twin-screeners (Columbus Square Theatre and Columbus Center Theatre), and the third one has just received its destiny in its revival. This theatre is located inside the Commons Mall in Columbus with the theatre marquee facing more on the 3rd Street side between 3rd Street and Washington Street. This former special events theatre may had opened as early as 1973 for my best guess but I could be wrong. This theatre is formerly a special events theatre including special screen showings, classic and family films, concerts, preforming arts, and other supplement of material throughout the 1970’s and 1980’s. It became an all-time first-run movie theatre as the Commons Cinemas in 1991 as a shock for the downtown area as “a twin screener”. To the look of my eye, the look of the marquee looks a bit of an odd recycled boulder dated to at least the early-1970’s but maybe they have a bit of a revenue.
It was closed on October 24, 2007 and was demolished. The main building was then later reconstructed with a slight slick face of the interior, and was used as a communication office, a community center, and an indoor playground.
