The Country Square Cinema was opened in 1978. It was later renamed Englewood Cinema and closed in June 2015 because the cost of conversion to digital projection was out of reach. The Englewood Cinema reopened October 19, 2019. The Dayton Daily News reported the new owners, George Rand and Luke Sowers, spent two months of preparing, resulting in new carpet, paint, equipment, and electrical and HVAC updates.
Some of the first films shown were “The Invisible Man”, “King Kong”, “Dawn Of The Dead”, and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”.
