Airline Theatre

This theatre was the only theatre in Vandalia for years. It sat across the street from the Dayton Airport. The theatre closed in the early Sixties and was bought by the local Masonic Lodge who retro-fitted it for a Masonic Temple.

This was the Masonic Temple when I lived in Vandalia from 1977 to 1981. But one thing is for sure, you can sure recognize the place as an obvious former movie theater.

I lived and grew up in Vandalia from 1953 to 1977…..the Airline Theater was a favorite until it closed in 1963. SOme I know contend it closed in 1965 but I am certain it was 1963 because I saw the last film that was on the bill- King Kong vs. Godzille….an Oscar winner for a 9 year old…. Can any out there verify the actual year it closed? I can be reached at the email address below:
