I just saw a picture of the building this theater was torn down for. What a crime!! Theres open space all around where the ignorant developer could have built his project. And cheaper! and he would now be right next to (and we’d still have) an 11 story Art Deco bldg and 2000 seat theater. What a loss for everyone when we allow folks with more money than brains to get away with criminal acts.

I don’t, but it bears repeating that “It’s a shame that Nashville doesn’t still have this t theatre!”

Thought i spelled his name wrong Imaxguy.

Harry Vickous managed this theater at one time…just a “name spelling” correction. I started training to be a union operator at this theater with Ben Thomas, the business agent. It had three projectors, and a magnetic playback unit that could sync to the projectors.

How do you watch anything on AMC with all the cuts and commericals.TCM so much better. We played Both Godfathers at Nationals Hills on a Midnight show, think they got out about four in the morning.I was at Columbia Square and had more sense than to book those two. You got a good Find with that one-sheet,I might even have a “Godfather III” one sheet. Are we off topic again,Darn it.

I do not remember how I got mine either, As The Godfather played at this theatre and others but not of any of the Loews in Nashville. Some one must have just given it to me.BWT I just watched all the GODFATHER movies this past week-end on AMC.

The Godfather, which ran so long we could repeat the script by heart, also had people leaving their seats for the lighted safety of the lobby!

I remember Mr. Vickors, i believe you are right,he was a big wig with Martin Theatres, our city manager was Robert “Bob” Sokol he worked for Loews for many years till he retired. He has sadly passed on since,I am sure I have seen or maybe even knew some of the people you remember, but this was quite some time ago.I also worked at the Loews Melrose and Madison during my years with Loews. These theatres and the Paramount all have pages on Cinema Treasures, check them out.And welcome to Cinema Treasures.

I older blonde lady worked at the Paramount, I meant. And Pam.

Bishop was the manager. Vickors (sp) was either the old boss or in the corporate office of Martin Theatres above, if I remember correctly. I haven’t had anyone to really talk to about this. This rocks. Did you know Pam at the Paramount? Pete, Darlene or Linda at the Tennessee? She worked at the one higher up on Church… wasn’t that the Paramount? There was another older blonde lady who worked the box office there, she had a rep for liking the cops! :)

Who was the manager when you worked there? I may have known him, I am 53 and worked down at the Loews Creascent during those years.

This shows how old I am. I worked there as a a bit later, when pregnant with my oldest son. (yep, I was young) and my manager would NOT allow me to watch The Exorcist… because it might hurt my pregnancy!! They actually took a person out on a stretcher on two different occasions who passed out because of the “horror”.

And you are welcome.
