Located inside the enclosed Summit Mall on W. Market Street, Fairlawn, northwest of Akron, OH. The Summit Mall Theatre was opened on October 27, 1965 with Tony Curtis in “The Great Race”. I went there several times. The mall had three major department stores and is still in existence. The theatre was operated by Stanley Warner. When newer shopping facilities were developed further west in Montrose, a mutiplex theatre was built there and the Summit Mall Theatre was closed in July 1989.

Per the Akron Beacon Journal: The theater opened in October 1965 and closed in July 1989, due to competition from new multi-screen movie complexes.
This opened on October 27th, 1965. Grand opening ad posted.
