River Oaks Theater 4 was built and opened in 1978. It was attached to the building housing theater 1. It could hold 900 people and had the rocking chair seats like theater 1. It’s premiere attraction was “Magic”. Theater 4 is still open today though now it is known as theater 10 (with theater 1 now known as theater 9).
A six plex on the other side of River Oaks Mall was built in the 1990’s and Loews oddly decided to change the screen numbers. Theater 4 is now used mostly as a second screen for whatever movie is in the bigger theater.
Last time I was in the auditorium (several years ago) it was a mess. The curtain was filthy, many seats were broken or unusable and the sound quality was muffled.
The theater was closed in January 2006 and demolished in June 2018.

Has this building been demolished?
No Paul. it still stands.
This stood, at least as of June 2013. I keep in close touch with a few friends in the south suburbs, and I know they would’ve informed me immediately, if demolition ever occurred here. I still have a bad feeling it’ll be torn down, one of these days.
I too am always concerned about these two theatres, especially the DIMENSION-150 theatre with it’s GIANT CURVED SCREEN. I was in the general area last night and made a special trip over see if the building was still standing. I love to drive around to the back of the building to take a look at that giant curved wall that follows the curve of the D-150 SCREEN just on the other side of the wall. Last night I didn’t drive back to the back wall cause I saw a car drive in back and park, who knows what was going on? Anyway the building still stands as of 22 November 2014.
Exactly when will that old theater be demolished? It’s been vacant for 12 years!
Currently being demolished.
