Located in Kendal, Westmorland (today Cumbria). The St. George’s Hall was converted into a cinema, known as the St. George’s Theatre in May 1910. It originally had 1,200 seats. The proscenium was 30ft wide and the stage 30ft deep. In 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. Around 1936 it was taken over by the Brennan’s Cinemas Ltd. chain. It was renovated and the seating capacity was reduced to 926.
In 1956 it was equipped with CinemaScope. It closed as a cinema in 1964 and was converted into a bingo club. In the 1980’s the front of the building was altered and the foyer was removed. The front of the building was converted into flats. Bingo continued until it closed in 1989. The auditorium was converted into retail use but has since been demolished for housing and in February 2018 the front of the building is occupied by a shop named No-Match. They had moved out by early-2023 and it became a Kendal Vapes store.

No-Match still occupies the ground floor but the entrance on the left now houses a barber shop.
No-Match has moved out and Kendal Vapes is about to move in.
