Opened in converted retail space on the ground floor of an apartment house on September 1, 1914, the Regent Theatre was exclusively a movie house, operated by the same company that had the larger Lyceum Theatre nearby. It continued to run movies after the Lyceum Theatre burned down in 1916.
During the long delay in rebuilding the Lyceum Theatre, its operating company was taken over by Wilmer & Vincent, who ran the Regent Theatre during its final days. The last show at the Regent Theatre was on April 1, 1921, the day before Wilmer & Vincent opened the Lyceum Theatre’s replacement as the Rialto Theatre.
In 2018 the Regent Theatre’s location is occupied by a pawn shop.
