On March 25, 1927, John S. Woodbury opened his Woodbury Theatre with “The General” starring Buster Keaton on a ten year lease. On April 8, 1927, the theatre became the Lyric Theatre. On May 8, 1927, the theatre became the Orpheum Theatre.
On the theatre’s next lease, the venue became partially owned by operator of the Cedar, Melvin R. Thorley. Thorley rebranded the venue as the Parks Theatre relaunching on May 4, 1937. In 1951, both the Cedar Theatre and the Parks Theatre were sold to the Yergensens. In 1962, the Parks Theatre was destroyed by fire ending its run in Cedar City.
