The Unique Theatre began operating in the Masonic Hall on September 18, 1908 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures). In 1913, the owners opened a second theatre, the Gaiety Theatre, in a nearby church hall. In 1917 the two operations were combined in a new building on Queen Street which opened as the New Gaiety Theatre on November 23, 1917 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures) .
