The original Gaiety Cinema was opened in 1936 and was a 1,000-seater. Two screens were added in August 1981 and it closed as a four screen on 15th June 1997 and the building was soon demolished.
A new seven-screen Gaiety Cinema was built on the site which became the Omniplex in June 2015.

Gaiety opened in 1936 and closed as four-screen cinema on 15 June 1997. It was demolished shortly after. The last films were Anaconda, Absolute Power, Con-Air and Scream.
