Located in the south west Point Breeze district of the city center. The Globe Theatre was opened as a movie theatre in 1914. It was closed in 1929, remaining a silent movie theatre until the end.

Dates incorrect (that’s a different Globe Theatre). This one was still going in 1969 and likely an African American Theatre. Converted to retail by 1973.

My great grandfather, Robert John Johnson, was killed while working on a scaffold for this building back in 1916. His death certificate is marked “accidentally” leaving me to question if this was perhaps a homicide. Any information is appreciated.
